Govt may take court action against Britain

The Government could take Britain to the European Court of Human Rights in a row over information about the Dublin and Monaghan bombings.

Ireland has repeatedly asked the British government to hand over files relating to the 1974 attacks, which killed 33 people.

However, the Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats coalition has expressed dissatisfaction with the information provided to date.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said he expects to receive a letter on the matter from British Prime Minister Tony Blair during talks in London later today.

If he is unhappy with the contents of this letter, the Government intends to take Britain to the European Court of Human Rights.
