33-year-old man critical after Co Tipperary assault

A 33-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in Clonmel, Co Tipperary in the early hours of this morning.

The man, who is believed to be from the town, suffered serious head injuries in the attack on Gladstone Street shortly before 3am.

He is being treated at Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí have sealed off the scene of the assault pending technical examination and have said they are following a definite line of inquiry in relation to the matter.
