Family of murdered SF man to meet TDs and senators
The family of a Sinn Féin councillor who was murdered 14 years ago is due to meet TDs and senators in Dublin today as part of a campaign for an independent inquiry into the killing.
Eddie Fullerton, a councillor in Buncrana, Co Donegal, was shot dead by three gunmen who burst into his home in May 1991.
The killing was claimed by loyalist paramilitaries and nobody has ever been brought to justice.
Mr Fullerton's family want a new, independent investigation of the murder in light of the Morris Tribunal's findings about Garda incompetence and wrongdoing in Co Donegal.
However, Minister for Justice Michael McDowell has rejected calls for the tribunal to be widened to investigate the matter.
