A significant number of people want the Government to press ahead with a planned referendum on the proposed EU constitution, an opinion poll published this morning has claimed.

In total 45% of respondents to The Irish Times poll said they wanted an Irish referendum to go ahead despite rejection of the document in France and the Netherlands.
