Body discovered in Newry canal

A body has been recovered from a canal in Newry by police investigating the death of Gareth O'Connor, who has been missing for over two years.

The convicted IRA member was reported missing after he failed to report to Dundalk garda station as part of his bail conditions.

The body was found in a car which is similar to the one he was last seen in.

No formal identification has been made and a post mortem expected to be carried out later.
