Anti-ASBO march in Dublin today
Opponents of the proposed introduction of Anti Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) claim there is a groundswell of support against their introduction.
A protest march against ASBOs is taking place in Dublin this afternoon beginning at Parnell Square at 2.30pm and proceeding to the Central Bank.
Aisling Reidy from the Irish Council for Civil Liberties says ABSOs have been a failure in Britain and have been condemned by European human rights bodies.
“The only example we have to follow is something that has been condemned by the Human Rights Watch body,” she said.
“It is a clear sign that we are going down a way that breaches human rights and infringes civil liberties.”
