Pedestrian plans for Dublin city centre welcomed

The head of the Dublin Transport Office has welcomed Transport Minister Martin Cullen’s commitment to make Dublin city centre more pedestrian and bike-friendly.

Minister Cullen said at the Velo-City Conference today he was committed to pushing traffic out of the city centre in future.

However, the head of the DTO John Henry said more work is needed improve facilities for cyclists in the city.

"I appreciated his commitment to the bicycle and the development of the bicycle as a mode of transport. We have to make it safer and easier and more friendly for people to walk and cycle in the city centre."
