Junior Minister Sean Power has insisted that the Government is committed to establishing an independent body to inspect standards in Irish nursing homes.

Opposition parties have called for such a body in response to a Prime Time television documentary last night highlighting sub-standard levels of care at the Leas Cross nursing home in Swords, Co Dublin.
