Irish journalists urged to support BBC strike
Irish journalists are being urged to support Monday's strike at the BBC.
Up to 10,000 staff are taking part in a one-day stoppage in protest at the corporation's decision to cut one-in-five jobs at the BBC.
According to the General Secretary of the National Union of Journalists, Jeremy Dear, the cuts will have an impact on public service broadcasting around the world.
“This is about more than just job cuts in the BBC. This is about a model of public service broadcasting that is rightly praised and respected around the world.” Mr Dear said.
“We think that the cuts package that is being proposed will severely damage public service broadcasting in the UK and we think that will have a knock-on effect around the world,” he added.
