Garda receives stitches catching bank raider
A Garda has received 20 stitches following a failed bank robbery in Dublin city centre today. The Garda has been treated in St James' Hospital in Dublin.
The Garda received the injuries from a man in a struggle at the AIB on Dame Street just after 1pm today.
The man had attempted to hold up the bank staff with an imitation firearm. Gardaí arrived quickly and during a struggle, one of the offices fell through a pane of glass.
The culprit was arrested and continues to be questioned at Pearse Street Garda Station this evening.
