Enterprise Minister Micheál Martin has announced plans by three multinational firms to create 215 jobs in Cork in the coming years.

The US firm Alcon, which makes medical devices for eyes, is planning to create 140 jobs at its facility on Model Farm Road in the city, where it already employs 120 people.

The German electronics company Siemens is also planning to hire 30 workers at a management centre on Penrose Quay, while the US outdoor pursuits firm Cascade is planning to create 45 jobs at its operation in Midleton.
