Man dies in house fire near Mullingar

A man in his 40s has died in an overnight fire at his house near Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

The blaze broke out at around 11pm on Main Street in the village of Ballynacarrigy.

The victim was a 45-year-old father-of-three, but gardaí are withholding the his name until all next of kin are informed.

The scene has also been preserved for technical examination to determine the cause of the fire.
