The Emperor and Empress of Japan are meeting President Mary McAleese in Dublin today as part of a four-day official visit to Ireland.

The imperial couple are due to view a tree planted in the grounds of Áras an Uachtaráin when Emperor Akihito first visited Ireland 20 years ago.
