A man is to be charged in court tomorrow in connection with a large drugs and weapons seizure in Dublin.

The 18-year-old will appear at a special sitting of Tallaght District Court at the purpose built court facility in Cloverhill prison.

He was arrested yesterday following the seizure of seven kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of €500,000 along with six firearms - two sawn-off shotguns, three rifles and a handgun – as well as ammunition.

Officers from the National Drugs Unit made the arrests as a result of searches in the Tallaght area.

A 35-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the find has been released from custody at Tallaght Garda Station.

A Garda spokesman said a file would be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Gardaí also stopped two men in Dublin city centre yesterday with three quarters of a kilo of cocaine with an estimated street value of €50,000.

The first man, a 22-year-old from Belfast, was charged at a special sitting of the Bridewell District Court with drugs trafficking offences.

The second man, a 50 year old from Tallaght, was released from Store Street garda station today. A file is being sent to the DPP.
