Ahern to meet Hain

Foreign Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern and new Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Hain today agreed to meet “as quickly as possible” to begin advancing the peace process in the wake of Friday’s British general election results.

In a personal telephone call to Mr Hain this morning, Mr Ahern congratulated him on his appointment and expressed the wish to hold an early meeting about restoring the suspended power-sharing institutions.
