The SDLP's Alasdair McDonnell has pulled off a coup for the part and taken the Belfast South Westminster seat.

Dr McDonnell, with 32.28% of the vote, beat off the DUP's James Spratt and UUP's Michael McGimpsey, whose unionist vote was split.
