Man arrested after attempted robbery at Dublin post office

Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a man following an attempted robbery at a post office in the north of the city this morning.

A lone raider entered the premises on Botanic Road in Glasnevin at around 10.30am armed with what appeared to be a firearm.

He was tackled by a member of the public, who received slight head injuries and was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

A man was subsequently arrested and an imitation firearm was recovered at the scene.
