Drug find is heroin, says gardaí

Gardai said tonight that drugs seized in Dublin yesterday and identified as cocaine has turned out to be heroin.

Officers said a closer examination of the haul had confirmed it was heroin with an estimated street value of €1.2m.

A 26-year-old man was arrested today under the Drug Trafficking Act in relation to the find and is being held at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

A woman, 47, and her 17-year-old son are also being quizzed on the discovery during a planned search at a house on Cremona Road, Ballyfermot.

The three people can be detained for up to seven days under the legislation.
