Search for missing Kerry fisherman resumes today

A search will resume this morning for a man who is believed to have gone fishing in Co Kerry yesterday morning, and failed to return home.

The white Mitsubishi van he was driving was found parked 600 yards from Blackwater Bridge near Kenmare.

The alarm was raised by the man's brother-in-law when he failed to return home yesterday afternoon. His family believe that he left his house at 9am yesterday, but they didn’t see him leave.

He is a keen fisherman, and his family assumed he went angling in the Blackwater River.

The missing man was driving a white Mitsubishi van, which was spotted near Blackwater Bridge yesterday morning and was still present when the search began later in the afternoon.

Gardaí, the Derrynane Rescue Team and the Waterford Coastguard helicopter helped out in the search, which was hampered by poor weather conditions.
