Postmasters protest at Dáil
Members of the Irish Postmasters' Union are due to march on the Dáil today as part of a campaign to ensure social welfare payments continue to be distributed via post offices.
The Government is considering the possibility of lodging such payments directly to recipients' bank accounts, which would be a huge blow for An Post.
The IPU has collected 500,000 postcards signed by members of the public opposed to the move and is due to deliver them to Social and Family Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan today.
