Bank raiders escape with €100k
An armed gang locked up terrified bank workers before escaping with over €100,000 in a raid in Dublin, it was confirmed today.
Staff arriving for work at the National Irish Bank in Killester at around 9.30am were confronted by two armed men inside the building.
A garda spokesman said: “The men were already inside the bank as the staff entered. They were locked into a small room downstairs believed to be a toilet.”
Gardaí confirmed that one of the men was armed with a firearm. However, no shots were fired.
Detectives are examining how the two robbers managed to gain entry to the bank branch.
Officers confirmed that the men had made away with a substantial sum of cash.
