Govt spends €5m yearly on PR
The Government is spending over €5m a year on advisers and press officers.
This new information is set to create a stir due to the inadequate state services in both the health and aviation sector here.
The Taoiseach’s Department alone spends a total of €1.5m every year on special advisors, press officers and personal assistants.
Meanwhile, Tánaiste Mary Harney spends just over €1m on PR assistants.
The highest paid advisor for the Government works at the Taoiseach’s department and gets €192,000 per year plus €3,000 in expenses. In some cases, advisors are earning more than ministers themselves.
