Justice Minister Michael McDowell is set to double the number of gardaí working in the Traffic Corps in an effort to tackle the high number of road deaths in Ireland.

Reports this morning said the minister indicated additional funding was available to increase the number of personnel in the Traffic Corps to 1,100 by September 2006.
