The PSNI chief constable, Hugh Orde has decided to wait before making any statement on Gerry Adams appeal to the IRA to stand down.

The PSNI chief constable, Hugh Orde has decided to wait before making any statement on Gerry Adams appeal to the IRA to stand down.

He was challenged by the DUP's Ian Paisley junior to make a judgment on how seriously he's treating the appeal at this afternoon's meeting of the North's Policing Board.

The chief constable said: “We will wait and see what that means, obviously we don’t discuss intelligence in a public forum but we will see where that takes us.”
