Dundalk woman believed to have been stabbed to death
The 43-year-old woman whose body was found in her home in Dundalk, Co Louth, yesterday is believed to have been stabbed to death.
A post mortem has been carried out on the remains of Irene White, but gardai have not revealed the result of the examination.
They are, however, expected to confirm later today that their investigation into the death is a formal murder inquiry.
Ms White was found dead in the kitchen of her home at Ice House on Demesne Road shortly after 12pm yesterday.
Reports today said there was no sign of forced entry or a struggle prior to her death.
Gardai have appealed for anyone who may have been in the area between 8.30am and 12.30pm yesterday to come forward.
