Planning application successes climb 30%

The Central Statistics Office has reported a 30% increase in the number of successful planning applications in the final quarter of last year compared with the same period in 2003.

The CSO said 25,790 planning applications for new houses and apartments were approved between September and December of last year, compared to just under 20,000 in the same three months of 2003.
