Scores arrested during St Patrick's Day celebrations
Gardaí throughout the country have arrested scores of people during drunken disturbances related to the annual St Patrick's Day celebrations.
More than 100 people were arrested in Dublin alone, 67 of them by gardaí based at Store St station, while ambulance crews were called to deal with 25 drink-related assaults over a two-hour period.
The worst of the violence saw two men stabbed at a house in the Artane area of the city, while a 26-year-old man suffered a serious cut to his head in the Ballyfermot area.
Scores of others arrests were also made as a result of drink-fuelled incidents in cities and towns throughout the country.
One man was arrested after a stabbing incident in Galway, while 24 were detained after a row in a pub on Catherine Street in Limerick.
