Independent moves clear in Kildare count
Independent councillor Catherine Murphy has taken the lead in the Kildare North by-election count with 8,809 votes - 34.5% of the votes.
She overtook Fianna Fáil candidate Áine Brady thanks to a transfer of 1,633 votes from Labour’s Paddy McNamara.
Fine Gael’s Darren Scully is now eliminated and the fifth count will see the distribution of his 7,500 votes.
