Armed raider arrested after raiding family home

A mother and daughter suffered a terrifying ordeal today when a man brandishing a firearm entered their Limerick home in broad daylight and attempted to rob them.

The man - who is believed to be a Russian national - threatened the two women at the door of their home in Newtown, Castletroy on the outskirts of the city, at 3.30pm this afternoon.
