The number of people killed in road accidents in Ireland so far this year is up slightly on the figures for 2004, according to the National Safety Council.

The number of people killed in road accidents in Ireland so far this year is up slightly on the figures for 2004, according to the National Safety Council.

The council said 71 people had died in road accidents in the first nine weeks of 2005, compared to 69 in the same period last year.
