Psychiatrists, community workers and support groups are due to gather at Arás an Uachtarain in Dublin today to discuss ways of preventing suicide.

The meeting was arranged by President Mary McAlesse in an effort to achieve greater partnership between all the bodies working in the area.

Mrs McAleese wants these bodies to share their research and experience and pool their expertise to tackle the problem of suicide, which is the most common cause of death among 15 to 24-year-old Irish men.
