The national council of the Irish Hospital Consultants Association is meeting to discuss the latest developments in the row over insurance cover for doctors.

The IHCA has received a letter from the Government saying no patient will go uncovered and no doctor will go undefended.

Donal Duffy of the IHCA says they will discuss legal advice on the matter before deciding if the action will go ahead.
