The Bishop of Derry has expressed regret at the “disquiet” caused after parish money was paid into a fund for victims of clerical sex abuse without consultation.

The Bishop of Derry has expressed regret at the “disquiet” caused after parish money was paid into a fund for victims of clerical sex abuse without consultation.

Three per cent of parish funds in the Diocese of Derry are being diverted into the Stewardship Trust, set up by the church for sex abuse victims.

The move was established without the prior knowledge of parishioners, who have expressed anger at the church’s actions.
