Orde still blames IRA for bank raid
The North’s Chief Constable, Hugh Orde, has said his position on the Northern Bank Raid has not changed.
He said not only his intelligence sources, but many people know that the crime was committed by the Provisional IRA.
Police in the North have linked the discovery of £50,000 (€72,000) worth of sterling banknotes at a police sports club, to the Northern Bank Raid.
The PSNI believes the dumping of the money is a deliberate attempt to distract attention from the ongoing money laundering investigations in the Republic.
Mr Orde said communities in the North are becoming more and more fed up with this sort of activity.
He added that he hopes communities will feel able to deal with the intimidation and work with the police to bring those guilty to justice.
