Boat-buyers advised to think before they buy

Big spenders going to next week's boat show in the RDS are being warned to think before they buy.

The Irish Water Safety Association says anyone thinking of buying a boat must buy the proper safety equipment to go with it.

The group says, in their experience, people tend to buy the most expensive boat they can afford and fail to purchase essential safety equipment.

It says new boat owners often make the mistake of buying boats that they cannot manage.
