Gardaí investigating the murder of Ennis taxi driver Liam Moloney have confirmed they have recovered a knife believed to have been used in the killing.

The weapon was recovered during an examination of Mr Moloney's partially burned-out taxi, which was found in the village of Barefield the day after his murder.

The 56-year-old's body was found in a field near the village of Ruan last Saturday. He had apparently been killed during an attempted robbery.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information about the murder.

They said they were particularly interested in speaking to the owner of a maroon-coloured taxi that was spotted driving from Ruan to Ennis after 8pm on February 11, or anybody else who may have seen the vehicle.
