Tsunami tennis players smash world record
Two Irish tennis players have set a new world record for the longest competitive singles match.
31-year-old Ciaran Gilchrist, from Raheny in Dublin, and 19-year-old Karl Falsey, from Athboy in Co Meath, broke the previous record of 25 hours and 25 minutes this morning.
They played for 30 hours and one minute in an effort to raise money for the Asian tsunami relief fund.
Match winner Ciaran Gilchrist said they got great support for their marathon effort at the Westwood club, raising over €3,000.
