Dump SF, Ruairi Quinn tells SDLP conference
Former Irish Labour Party leader, Ruairi Quinn, has launched an attack on Sinn Féin at the SDLP conference in Derry.
He said that the SDLP must ditch Sinn Féin once and for all. Mr Quinn told the conference that his party and others had sacrificed some of their traditional support to Sinn Féin, but enough was enough.
Democratic parties had been betrayed by the duplicity of the Republican movement, which he said, cared more for its electoral growth than the Good Friday Agreement.
He continued by highlighting the opportunity offered by the upcoming British elections for people to turn away from Sinn Féin and towards the parties who want to make politics work.
