36-year-old man dies in Dublin housefire

A 36-year-old man has died in a fire at his home in north Co Dublin.

The blaze broke out at a house in the Derham Park area of Balbriggan just before 7pm yesterday evening.

The man, who has been named as Alan Rooney, was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin city, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The cause of the fire is not known, but the scene has been preserved for technical examination later today.

Gardaí are not treating the blaze as suspicious.
