Two people were killed in accidents on the country’s roads over the weekend, gardaí said today.

Two people were killed in accidents on the country’s roads over the weekend, gardaí said today.

The deaths bring the total number of people killed in crashes so far this year to 26 – two more than the same period last year.

A woman in her 50s was killed after her motorcycle collided with a car in Co Clare. The accident happened at around 1.30pm, 1km from Corofin.

Two other people who were injured in the crash were taken to Ennis General Hospital for treatment.

In a separate accident a 24-year-old man died after a two cars collided in Co Wexford yesterday evening. The accident happened at around 6pm at Killesk near Campile.

Gardaí investigating both incidents have appealed for witnesses.
