Louth construction accident claims 24-year-old’s life

The Health and Safety Authority is investigating an accident in which a construction worker died in Co Louth earlier today.

The 24-year-old was injured along with two colleagues when a number of concrete pillars collapsed as they were working on the extension to the M1 motorway near Dundalk.

The man, who was from Co Monaghan, died later in Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.

The incident happened just before lunchtime.
