Mobile phone threat to be discussed by TDs
A special Dáil meeting will take place this week to discuss the threat posed by mobile phones to children.
A report from the British Radiological Protection Board has sparked concern by saying children under eight years of age should not use mobile phones.
Parents were warned there may be a health risk associated with the use of handsets.
Fianna Fáil TD Noel O'Flynn will attend the Joint Oireachtas Communications meeting on Tuesday.
He said that parents need not be alarmed but "a number of studies have shown that there may be health risks and it would be wrong of the health committee not to hear further about it".
The committee has invited the Irish Doctors' Environmental Association, which has been lobbying to discuss this aspect of emissions from mobile phones.
