The Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney has apologised to a man who contracted Hepatitis-C from his mother at birth, after she was given infected blood products.

The Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney has apologised to a man who contracted Hepatitis-C from his mother at birth, after she was given infected blood products.

The 24-year-old reached a settlement in the High Court yesterday, believed to be in the region of €2m.

Lawyers for Ms Harney said she very much regretted the pain and suffering caused to the man and his family.
