A murder investigation was underway tonight into the death of a father-of-six.

Gardaí at Kilmainham said that post-mortem results revealed that Thomas Brady, 49, from Dolphin’s Barn in the Rialto area of Dublin had died from head injuries.

Mr Brady is believed to have been found on the floor of his flat in the Dolphin House complex by his 24-year-old son.

He was taken by ambulance from Dolphin House complex in Dolphin’s Barn to St James’s Hospital at 8pm on Wednesday night last. Mr Brady died from head injuries soon after.

The flat in the Dolphin House complex was immediately sealed off.

Officers from the Garda Technical Bureau carried out a forensic examination of the scene this morning.

State Pathologist, Prof Marie Cassidy, performed the post- mortem tonight which revealed that Mr Brady had been murdered.

Gardaí are still trying to establish a motive for the attack and it is understood that there were no signs of a break-in at the man’s flat.

Officers renewed their appeal for anyone who was in the area of Dolphin House between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday night last to contact Kilmainham Garda Station on 01 6669700.
