Shelbourne Hotel ordered to pay €7,000 in race harassment case

The Equality Tribunal has ordered the exclusive Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin to pay €7,000 in compensation to an Australian woman who was harassed by a manager because of her race.

The Equality Tribunal has ordered the exclusive Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin to pay €7,000 in compensation to an Australian woman who was harassed by a manager because of her race.

Tanya Persaud, whose father is of Afro-Caribbean origin, told the tribunal that her manager at the hotel made derogatory remarks about Africans and people from the West Indies while in her company.
