Motorists have been warned to drive with extra caution this morning due to icy conditions in all parts of the country.

Snow fell in many areas, particularly in Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster, as temperatures plummeted overnight.

Strong winds also battered parts of the north and west with gusts of up to 70mph.
