Post mortem due on body found in missing boy search
Gardaí in Co Cork are expected to confirm today that the body found yesterday in the search for Robert Holohan was that of the missing 11-year-old boy.
The body was found yesterday afternoon in undergrowth near Inch Strand, around 11 miles from where the youngster disappeared nine days ago.
The State Pathologist is due to examine the remains and carry out a post mortem today.
Reports this morning said local gardaí already believed the body was that of Robert Holohan, who was last seen leaving his home on his bicycle on Tuesday of last week.
The bicycle was found in a ditch near his home a number of hours later, but there was no sign of the youngster.
This morning’s reports said the search of Inch Strand that led to the discovery of his body was prompted by the tracing of a signal from the 11-year-old’s mobile phone.
The body of a middle-aged man was also recovered from the Owencurra River in Midleton yesterday, but gardaí said there was no evidence to link the discovery with Robert’s disappearance.
