PSNI planning DNA tests in hunt for pensioner's killer

The PSNI has announced plans to ask men and teenage boys to undergo voluntary DNA testing as part of an investigation into the murder of a Co Tyrone pensioner last month.

Patrick McGrath was strangled in his home in Coalisland on December 19 in a crime the PSNI has described as one of the most brutal on record.

Detectives revealed today that Mr McGrath's elderly sister was sexually assaulted by the intruder who killed the 76-year-old at his house in the Killeen area of the town.

She also sustained serious head injuries and a number of broken bones during the attack and was only released from hospital last Friday.
