Police in the North are investigating an incident when two men forced a taxi driver to drive a suspect device to the Grosvenor Road police station on Saturday night.

The two suspects took a cab from a taxi depot in the city at about 7.35pm last night and asked the driver to take them to Leeson Street in Belfast.

At this point the front seat passenger allegedly pointed a gun into the driver’s side and told him to drive to Gibson Street in the Lower Falls Road area.

A suspect device was placed into the back seat of the taxi and the driver was instructed to drive to the police station on Grosvenor Road in West Belfast.

The device was later made safe by bomb disposal experts.
