Curtin committee adjourns proceedings due to legal challenge

The Oireachtas sub-committee investigating Circuit Court judge Brian Curtin has adjourned its proceedings due to a legal challenge by the judge.

Judge Curtin has applied to seek a judicial review of the committee's demand that he hand over his personal computer for examination.

Last night the committee decided, in light of the challenge, to adjourn proceedings until January, when it will review the latest developments.

The Government established the committee in an effort to remove Judge Curtin from office following his acquittal on child pornography charges earlier this year.

He was found not guilty of the charges because the warrant used to search his home and seize his computer was out of date.
